C. H. and Caroline Yoe Foundation Fund
is one of
nine funds administered
by Milam County Community Foundation, a 509(a)(1) / 501(c)(3)
public charity organized in 1995-96 to benefit Cameron and
Milam County. The Foundation originally was named
C. H. and Caroline Yoe
Foundation. Donors who have built up the Foundation include
hundreds of graduates of C. H. Yoe High School in Cameron
and other generous friends of Cameron and Milam County.
This community
foundation is one of hundreds of community foundations in the
United States. Structures and missions are similar whether a
community foundation serves an area of 26,000 inhabitants or
many millions. All community foundations offer their services as
an effective way to give back to a community that has benefited
donors. Community foundations offer donors administrative
services that conform with IRS regulations, sound investment
management principles, and required financial record keeping
(accounting). These services are often appealing to donors who
have the means to establish a small private foundation, but not
the desire to be tied down with the detailed administration
required.
MCCF’s by-laws
are written to conform to national standards for community
foundations. Investments are under the control of the Board of
Directors. Now and for many years, financial record keeping has
had the advisory services of respected out-of-county independent
public accounting firms (CPAs).
The
foundation’s reach was expanded to cover Milam County in early
2006 at which time the original name, C. H. and Caroline Yoe
Foundation, became the name of a special-purpose fund within
Milam County Community Foundation. The change was implemented by
the Office of the Texas Secretary of State.
The
mission of the C. H. and Caroline Yoe Foundation Fund is to encourage learning
on all levels in the area served.
