Resolution

The following resolution was proposed and adopted by the Board of Directors, C. H. and Caroline Yoe Foundation, on February 28, 2003:

WHEREAS, the Board of Directors, representing each member individually and other donors to the foundation, wishes to express its condolences to the family of Walter Brown Dossett, Jr., who passed on January 31, 2003; and

WHEREAS, the Dossett family of Waco, once of Cameron, for over 100 years owned and operated industries here that provided, and continue to provide, jobs for Cameron and Milam County citizens; and

WHEREAS, in addition to providing jobs, Dossett interests' warehouse and manufacturing concerns, as good corporate citizens, contributed directly to the local welfare through its charitable contributions and through payments of property and other taxes for over 100 years; and

WHEREAS, Walter Brown Dossett, Jr., had lifelong ties to Cameron and Milam County, Texas, and by virtue of his willingness to take a stand that Cameron's economy should not be dependent on cotton alone, but should expand into manufacturing of institutional goods; and

WHEREAS, due to his astute management, he effected Royal Seating, Ltd., growth such that, with the addition of L.L. Sams Inc., his companies became Cameron's largest employers; and

WHEREAS, he further cemented his commitment to Cameron and Milam County with a gift of 1,438 shares of Exxon/Mobil Corp. stock to C. H. and Caroline Yoe Foundation, a community foundation benefiting both the city and the county; therefore be it

RESOLVED, BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF C.H. AND CAROLINE YOE FOUNDATION that along with his family, associates in other industries he headed, and many friends and admirers, we deeply mourn the passing of Walter Brown Dossett, Jr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Dossett's wife, sons and daughters, and the same be spread upon the minutes of the foundation as an expression of our appreciation for the life of Mr. Dossett and our pledge to continue to operate the Walter Brown Dossett Scholarship Fund to the honor the family's good name.
