Wallace
Collins
YHS
& AHS Class of 1950
Although
Wallace’s family moved to Austin mid-year when he was a
respected senior at C. H. Yoe High School, he was a third
generation citizen of Cameron who never lost his love of his
hometown. After graduating Austin High School and The University
of Texas at Austin he served in the U.S. Army then returned to
Austin.
By 1967 he
began his climb from the beginner’s post of field representative
of the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) to the highest
position in the agency. TREC administers standards for integrity
and professionalism of thousands of Texas real estate agents and
brokers, practitioners in such related fields as real estate
schools, developers under the Texas Timeshare Act, residential
services companies and inspectors. Doing so, this Texas
Commission regulates an essential segment of the
construction-real estate industry, the largest industry in the
world. Wallace
advanced to chief administrator of the agency in Texas in 1982
and retired 11 years later in 1993. His active
retirement included writing The Tiverton Diary, a novel
published in 2007.
