John Morris Duncum

YHS Class of 1955

Church, family, community, and business is life’s order for John Duncum. As father and husband he and his family have been continuously active in their community and church. He has served in church leadership for over 30 years. John and his wife have combined 18 years’ tenure as Texas public school board members. A graduate of Abilene Christian University and Sam Houston State University, he has served over twenty years as a member of the ACU board of trustees. During his career in commercial real estate development as partner with two of the country’s most prominent development companies, Trammell Crow Company and The Vantage Company, he changed the face of cities with commercial developments from Florida to Texas. As a real estate analyst, finance specialist, valuator, consultant, and business organizer he has been responsible for millions of square feet of office, warehouse, and hospitality properties. Peoples Republic of China sought his advice on transition from government control to free market use of real estate. As an independent business operator he has developed companies for real estate development and automobile retailing and is the managing partner/owner of Toyota dealerships in Bryan and Madisonville, Texas. John is the son of Coleman and Bertha Duncum of Cameron.
