Class of 1950
Ray McLeod was born in Cameron in 1932. His father worked for
the Santa Fe Railway, and his mother was an elementary school
teacher. Ray received a BBA degree from Baylor, served as a U.S.
Air Force officer and got his MBA from TCU. He worked for IBM in
San Antonio and Dallas.
Hired in 1969
by Metropolitan State College in Denver to teach Management
Information Systems (MIS), Ray earned his Ph.D. in marketing
from the University of Colorado at Boulder. From there he joined
the Texas Christian University faculty. He then accepted an
offer from Texas A & M where he taught until moving to The
University of Texas at Austin. In addition to UT, Ray has taught
at St. Edwards University in Austin and Southwestern University
in Georgetown. He was invited to present at a professors’
conference in Athens, Greece, in 2007
Ray has authored or co-authored a number of college textbooks.
The tenth edition of his Management Information Systems
text was published in 2006. This book has been used at such
schools as Harvard, New York University, USC, and Notre Dame.
Ray has seven
children and he enjoys following their accomplishments as they
pursue careers as parents, teachers, artists, financial
analysts, movie-makers, and business owners and managers.
