Ray’s executive rise in Texas Eastern Corp. in Houston and its successor
Duke Energy in Charlotte, North Carolina, has been brilliant. Presently he
serves on Duke Energy’s Executive Advisory Council, and directs Duke
Energy Business Services meaning global sourcing and logistics, information
technology, corporate real estate and more. His business group delivers
those support services to the vast Duke multi-national infrastructure. But
that’s only the latest development in his 25-year career with these two
companies. After being named Texas Eastern comptroller in 1991, he advanced
to management of information systems in 1994, v-p information systems in
1995, and Sr. v-p of Duke’s shared service in 1997 after Texas Eastern
merged with Duke Energy. Duke then moved him up as Sr. v-p of global
sourcing and logistics in 1999; Sr. v-p Duke Ventures in 2001; president and
CEO DukeNet Communications in 2002; then to his present post. As a CPA with
BBA degree from Texas A&M University he completed Stanford University
Executive Program and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs. His
volunteer activities center on work for non-profits in Charlotte and Houston
helping inner city development and troubled youth.
