Award-winning journalist, communications executive, social marketing leader, and education official. Member of the YHS concert and marching bands and yearbook editor. Member of the National Honor Society. Winner in UIL extemporaneous speaking. Graduated from Sophie Newcomb College, Tulane University, where she was a student government leader, editor-in-chief of the student newspaper, and leader of the Direction '71 lecture series. Earned master's degree in mass communications from the University of Minnesota. Reporter for the Rockland (N. Y.) Journal-News, where she won national awards from the Associated Press Managing Editors, the New York City Press Club and others. National legal affairs correspondent for the Newhouse News Service. President and Chairman of the Board of Governors of the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. Director of Communications for the United States Secretary of Education. Vice President of Communications and Marketing for the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids. Senior Vice President, Porter Novelli, an international strategic communications and social marketing firm dedicated to reducing tobacco use and protecting the health of all Americans. First woman inducted to Hall of Honor.
